I have been interested in photography for most of my life, but until 2001 I have been the observer and appreciator, not the participant. My journey to the world of photography, like most artistic endeavors, has taken me first through other fields such as interior design, floral design, creative writing, song writing, and singing before depositing me at the doorstep of that one art that truly captures my attention and realizes all my artistic fantasies: Photography.
During 2001-2005, I took several photography classes in Portland, Oregon to see if my interest in the subject was genuine. Within these classes I experimented with photography, at first, black and white, and then color. I applied many of the design principles I have learned in the other fields mentioned above, especially interior design. Not once did my interest in photography wane but instead, developed into a passion.
I am a 2006 graduate of the photography program at New York Institute of Photography, and am thoroughly enjoying marrying my creativity with the technical essentials of the craft. My understanding and love of photography continues to grow.
I have been invited to exhibit at several galleries and shows, and have won the Oregonian Homes and Gardens Photo Contest three years in a row: 2006, 2007, and 2008.
The images you see today represent my growing interest in the real world as I perceive and interpret it. In these photographs I show my affection for color, light, texture and shape. All of these elements of design are integral to the totality of each individual piece.
